How To Force Quit An Application on Mac OS X Yosemite

Applications on your Mac can sometimes crash or freeze up, not respond, ect... and they may not even close properly. If you do run into a scenario where you need to force quit an unresponsive application - there are a couple ways to do so. Note: Force quitting an application may make you lose any unsaved data.

The first way to Force Quit an App on Mac OS X Yosemite is to open the Force Quit Application window. 

1. Click on the Apple logo on your Desktop's Menu Bar.

2. Then click Force Quit....

3. Select the Application on the list you want to close, then click the Force Quit button.

The second way to Force Quit an App is from the Mac's Dock. 

1. Right click on the Applications icon on the Dock bar.

2. Hold down the Option key on your keyboard.

3. While holding down the Option key, click Force Quit.
