What If The iPhone Displayed Apps Like The Apple Watch?

This video created by YouTube user Lucas Menge, features a demo of what the iPhone would look like if it displayed Apps like the Apple Watch does. Lucas was inspired to create this App after he read an article written by Michael Steeber on 9to5Mac, who proposed the idea with a mock-up image.

I myself, after seeing the Apple Watch announced with the new home screen cloud of apps thought, wow, this might be cool if it was on the iPhone. It's like a galaxy of Apps where you can zoom in and move around to find the app you want.

However, after seeing this video - (great job to Lucas Menge, he did an awesome job of creating this demo) - It doesn't have the feel or experience that I thought it would. The circle cloud of apps really just looks crowded, more complication, and would be just be harder to find the app you're looking for. I thought, too, that this would be more modern, but in reality - it isn't. It's really just a mess of app icons.

Lucas Menge has shared the source code for the Apple Watch style home screen for iPhone demo app, which can be downloaded on GitHub
So what do you think? Would you want a Apple Watch like home screen on your iPhone and iPad? Do you think it's time the iOS home screen got a upgrade? Let us know in the comments.

  1. If you didn't have a lot of apps, this could be cool. If you did, yeah, it's just too crowded. Maybe the folders would help?
