How To Bring Back Mac's Green Plus Maximize Button In Yosemite

Familiar Mac users will notice a difference with the behavior of the Green 'traffic light' button on Mac's OS X application windows. The Green button used to have a "+" symbol and would act as a zoom function for the current window and maximized the size to fill the screen, or to as you had last manually set the application window.

As of OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) the Green button has changed. Now featuring two arrows pointing in opposite directions, the Green button functions as the applications full screen button, maximizing the window to take up the whole screen.

But the old Green plus zoom button is not totally gone. You can temporarily change the Green button to act as the old "+" button. To change the action, hover over the Green button and hold down the "Option" key on your keyboard. The button will change symbols and the "+" will be shown.
