Apple's Design Chief, Jonathan Ive, Mentions iWatch - Switzerland is in Trouble

A article titled "Tech, Meet Fashion" from the New York Times' 'Fashion and Style' section which talks about wearable tech and design/fashion, has a interesting part containing a comment from Apple's head of design, Jonathan Ive, mentioning the highly rumoured "iWatch".

"According to a designer who works at Apple, Jonathan Ive, Apple’s design chief, in bragging about how cool he thought the iWatch was shaping up to be, gleefully said Switzerland is in trouble — though he chose a much bolder term for “trouble” to express how he thought the watchmaking nation might be in a tough predicament when Apple’s watch comes out." - Article: Tech, Meet Fashion (New York Times)

According to the article, Jonathan Ive brags that the iWatch is shaping up to be really cool (I hope so too), and makes reference to Switzerland (watch makers) that they'll be in trouble when Apple releases the device. While I doubt anyone will replace their $10,000+ watch with a "iWatch", I do hope that Jony Ive is creating a smartwatch that looks really cool - and also has the features to back it up.

To this date, Apple has never confirmed the work on a "iWatch", other than a couple of patents - even though rumours are claiming a wearable device will be at least shown off on September 9th (and available at a later date) at a Apple media event, which is expected to announce the new iPhone 6.

We have yet to see any leaked parts or sketches, of the "iWatch", but I guess this article pretty much confirms that Apple is working on one - and maybe, if the rumours are right, we will get our first look on September 9th.
