iOS 8 Tip: How to Switch Off Notification Center from Lock Screen

Notification Center shows alerts, previews of unseen messages and emails, missed calls & your days calendar alerts. To some people who want to keep their iPhone or iPad as private as possible, may want to disable access to Notification Center from the lock screen, so no-one who picks up your iPhone can see personal information.

In iOS 8 the method for switching off Notification Center from the lock screen has changed. The option used to be under the heading 'Notification Center' in iOS 7, next to 'Control Center' which also allows you to enable or disable access to the lock screen.

Why Apple made the move for Notifications, I guess so they could keep the it with other lock screen options. Still wouldn't of been a bad idea to add the option in the Notifications settings as well.

The toggle has now moved to the passcode settings, along with other handy options.

How To Disable Notification Center from Lock Screen:

1. Open Settings.
2. Scroll down to and tap, Passcode (on iPhone 5 or earlier) or Touch ID & Passcode (on iPhone 5s or later).
3. Scroll down to heading "Allow Access When Locked".
4. Here you can enable or disable the options in Notification Center of: the Today view, and Notifications view. And there are also other options you can enable or disable from the lock screen like: Siri, Passbook, and Reply with Message.
