Shazam Comes To The Mac With Always-On-In-Background App

Shazam the popular music identifying app has just launched a new App for the Mac! The new application for OS X, runs 'always-on' in the background - catching the music and TV playing in the background.

Running quietly in the background (accessible from the Menubar), the Shazam Mac App builds a playlist (that you can't seem to delete) as it listens and "springs to life" with a notification when it thinks there is a song you should know about. (Notifications can be switched off from your Mac's System Preferences > Notifications).

Technologically speaking, an app that just runs - that you can later look at and see what all those songs played in your favorite TV show was - is pretty cool and amazing. It makes discovery and buying content even easier than before.  It's just one-click away from access to lyrics, music videos or the iTunes store.

Of course there is a downside to this that you may not like. If you have trust issues with technology - you may be wary about downloading this App - as it will (when switched on) be always listening to the sounds in the room. And I know many people don't like the sound of that!

Shazam (For Mac) is FREE to download from the Mac App Store.
